One year almost to the date, Brainerd Fire Fighters Full Time staff were nearly eliminated as the City of Brainerd attempted to become a Paid on Call only Fire Dept..

After a year of hard work; the hiring a new Fire Chief who worked and supported the full time staff , becoming very active in the local politics in the city and working toward replacing council members who supported the elimination. As well as restructuring the Dept. and response policies.  I am pleased to announce the City of Brainerd accepted a SAFER Grant to hire two full time FEO's by a 7-0 Council vote. The process is now near completion and it is expected that 2 new members of L-#4725 will begin employment on 5/8/11.

Brainerd Fire appreciates the support of all MPFF members, and a special thanks to our Northern District VP Rick Loveland, IAFF State rep Erik Simonson, Tom Thornberg, Jim Micheals and Brian Rice and all those behind the scene. We have worked hard and it was not possible with out all of their hard work and guidance.
